Overview

Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Treatments

At Refresh Physio, musculoskeletal physiotherapy has been a key focus. With an extensive background in sports physiotherapy, Catherine has worked with athletes of all abilities & understands the demands of both team & individual sports. For 10 years, she was physiotherapist to the national league football & basketball teams in the Wellington region.

Catherine’s postgraduate expertise in spinal physiotherapy & pain science education, combined with a biopsychosocial approach, helps clients understand that conditions like low back pain are influenced by many factors beyond localized discomfort & that scans are often unhelpful. Her holistic treatment addresses these comprehensively.

Catherine excels in working with injury prevention, evidence-based rehabilitation & exercise prescription. Rehab is tailored to the needs of the athlete, helping them return to peak performance. Her collaborative approach includes working with coaches & trainers to ensure a smooth transition back to training & competition, focusing on self-management & optimal function.

Catherine also has expert skills in managing:

  • Low back/spinal pain management – acute or persistent/ongoing
  • Tendinopathies (hip, knee, shoulder, achilles)
  • Hip & knee rehabilitation, including post-surgical recovery
  • Shoulder injury management, including post-surgical.
